Our PurposeThe Frostwood Elementary library program serves to grant flexible and open access to all students, as well as to instill a love of reading, inspire life-long learning and foster independent library use. The library is an inviting space with multiple learning commons where students may acquire knowledge and gain insight; enjoy a welcoming haven where they may seek respite from a demanding day; a stimulating place where they may open books and open their minds.
Frostwood has a long history in our community. It originally opened it's doors in 1960. In 2010, we celebrated our 50th anniversary. In 2014 the new Frostwood Elementary opened and now in our newly built school, we serve about 750 students in grades Kindergarten through 5th. There are dozens of student-use portable electronic devices, three computers serving library operations, and two presentation stations that use both document cameras and interactive boards to enhance student learning. We utilize the Follett Destiny Library Manager, a web-based system that allows access to our collection 24/7. This interface enables our students, staff and parents to have access to a our school library: in the library, in the classroom, at home and wherever or whenever you need us.
